Are Fair Digital Objects and Digital Twins the same thing?

چکیده

Semantically-defined Digital Twins (DTs) and Fair Objects (FDOs) are similar in concept. They both adopt the "Find first" philosphy they point to data about some entity real world (where "entity" is a very loose definition of any asset, or imaginary). Are there parallels that we can draw? Can use digital twin plaform host FDOs? same thing? The objectives GO-FAIR organisation, should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable Reusable were originally designed help human beings find understand data. There has always been side-helping desiring computers machine intelligences FDOs people normally think datasets, probably time-series collected over considerable period, amounting large file database records. What if you took concept compared it Twins? If define Twin as virtual representation real-world object, its identity, metadata stored “in cloud”, then it’s not big jump from an FDO. approach opposite direction - reduce size FDO until individual entity, collection, arrive at destination. In our proposed talk will outline ways semantically-defined twins overlap. We show examples action argue sufficient granularity would serve purpose. Venn diagram circle. have attributes do have. For example, might real-time feeds (such current temperature, fuel consumption, heart-rate… ), control interface change their state (turn on off, raise draw-bridge, etc). Same Same But Different - Comparing Rendering Environments for Interactive Digital Objects

Digital cultural heritage in interactive form can take different shapes. It can be either in the form of interactive virtual representations of non-digital objects like buildings or nature, but also as born digital materials like interactive art and video games. To preserve these materials for a long term, we need to perform preservation actions on them. To check the validity of these actions, ...

Why block-length and delay are not the same thing

Classically, information theorists have understood the tradeoff between delay and system error performance by using block-length as a proxy. Although this turns out to be correct when feedback is absent, it is shown to be very misleading when feedback is available. For symmetric channels, fixed block-length communication systems show no improvements in their error exponents while fixed delay sy...

Digital Rights Management and Fair Use

The recent controversies surrounding Amazon's removal of George Orwell's '1984' from Kindle readers, the BBC's proposal to encrypt Freeview High Definition (HD) content and Microsoft's permanent ban on Xbox Live users who have modified or 'chipped' their consoles have all served to highlight the debate over Digital Rights Management (DRM) and digital copyright. In the past, DRM measures have be...

Digital Objects as Passwords

Security proponents heavily emphasize the importance of choosing a strong password (one with high entropy). Unfortunately, by design, most humans are apparently incapable of generating such passwords, or memorizing a random-looking, machine-generated one for longterm use. Infrequently used passwords pose even bigger security and usability problems. We exploit the fact that many users now own or...
